Après avoir visité une exposition pour préparer un exposé avec des camarades de cours, je repars en bus avec l'une d'entre eux pour passer à l'EDL le soir. La pluie fait scintiller toute la ville, et je décide alors de descendre en amont pour prendre des photos. Le pavillon de Flore (où se trouve l'Ecole du Louvre) est tout en majesté ici, depuis le Pont Royal doré par les reflets de ces allées de lampadaires. Un air de Poudlard pour mon établissement de cœur.

After a visit to an exhibition with some friends to prepare a group project, I came back to the EDL by bus at night, with one of them.   The Rain was making the whole city shine, so I decided to get out of the bus just before my final stop, in order to take some photographs. The Pavillon de Flore (where the Ecole du Louvre is) is in majesty here, seen from the Pont Royal that is gilded by the reflections of these lamposts. A reminiscence of Hogwarts for my dear school.

Sortie nocturne avec mon trépied, dans ma zone affective : autour du Louvre. Positionné sur le rive gauche, direction Orsay, j'ai pu mettre la lune pile au dessus de ma chère Aile de Flore. Un effet de lentille et puis voilà, magie, une image du palais à l'atmosphère fascinante du fond des âges. Belphégor en puissance! Je la poste aujourd'hui pour souhaiter une bonne rentrée à tous les élèves de l'Ecole du Louvre ! ;-)

Night walk with my tripod, in my affective zone: around the Louvre. Positioned on the left bank, towards Orsay, I was able to put the moon right above my dear Aile de Flore. A lens effect and then there you have it, magic : a picture of the palace with the fascinating atmosphere of the depths of time. Belphégor power! I am posting it today to wish all the students at the Ecole du Louvre a good start! ;-)

Une promenade solitaire nocturne. L'appareil posé par terre en pose longue, j'ai pu capturer cette vue sur les majestueux ponts de Paris. Avec cette lumière froide la Seine semblait fleuve d'argent ''silver river''.

A solitary night walk. Camera lying on the ground and with a slow aperture, I managed to capture this view of the majestuous Pris bridges. This day the light made the Seine look like a silver river.

Un autre exemple de ces prises photographiques qui venaient couronner mes longues promenades solitaires sur mes roulettes et en musique, à observer les gens et les vues ; très souvent autour du centre et des quais de Seine. J'attendais avec impatience la coucher de soleil et sa livraison colorée. Parfois comme ici c'est en haut d'un pont que je pouvais le goûter en rêvassant. Le titre ''Port d'Orient'' vient de son atmosphère visuelle en nuances chaudes et dorées, me rappelant les peintures de paysages et l'orientalisme. On ne se croirait pas à Paris !

Another example of these photos that were rewarding my solitary rides (skateboard), music in the headphones, observing people and views ; quite often around the center and the Seine's banks. I was waiting with impatience for the sunset and its colors delivery. Sometimes as in this case, I was on top of bridge to enjoy it and dream a little. The title "Port of Orient'' comes from the atmosphere, all in warm and golden colors and shades, reminding me of the landscape paintings and the orientalism. Hard to think that this is Paris !

Période post-examens, à l'heure dorée, la lumière à travers les feuilles donnait ce vert si vif (je n'ai rien retouché bien sûr). J'aime aussi la projection de lumière au sol, en réponse, au niveau du petit promontoire de gazon ; et j'aime le contraste avec la pierre du bâtiment gothique. Il s'agit de l'UCC (University College, Cork), dans lequel j'étais en Erasmus en 2017. Cette photo est la dernière que je prendrai de Cork avant de rentrer à Paris quelques jours plus tard. Je suis heureux d'avoir immortalisé ce lieu si important pour moi, comme pour lui dire ''au revoir'' ; d'où le titre.

After the final tests, this day at the golden hour, through the leaves, the light created this bright green (no retouch of course). I like the light projection on the ground, as an answer, and I like the contrast with the gothic building in the background. It's the UCC (University College, Cork, Ireland), where I was studying (Erasmus) in 2017. This photograph is my last in Cork before my return to France, few days later. I'm happy to have this view as a goodbye to this very important place for me.

Avec cette photo on arrive aux derniers jours passés en Irlande en mai 2017. Je me souviens errer souvent pour m'imprégner les yeux de l'UCC et les environs pour ne jamais oublier tout ça. Bel exemple ici puisque ce petit oiseau se tenait sur la pelouse du bâtiment historique, une journée très ensoleillée, comme-ci il attendait pour qu'on le portraiture entouré de ces pétales charmants. Une belle scène de printemps!

With this photograph we are at the last days I spent in Ireland in May 2017. I remember wandering often to fill my eyes with all these visuals : the UCC and the surroundings ; to never forget all that. A fine example here since this little bird was standing on the lawn of the historic building on a very sunny day, as it waited to be portrayed surrounded by these charming petals. A beautiful spring scene!

[[Erasmus à Cork, Irlande 2017]]. De retour de mon périple de 3 jours sur le côté Ouest de l'Irlande, j'étais confronté à un souci technique : mon seul objectif zoom 18-55mm s'était cassé pendant ma fameuse ascension à risques dans le Connemara (voir photo ''Alone In The Connemara Mountains'' Mars 2017) ! Un drame pour moi... Mais heureusement mon ami Théophile, qui logeait chez moi à Paris à ce moment-là, a pu m'envoyer par la poste mon objectif fixe 35mm pour dépanner. Avec celui-ci, pas de zoom donc, et pour compenser cette frustration je décidais d'explorer les pauses longues, en posant l'appareil sur un support la nuit. Ici premier test : immortaliser la vue que j'avais quotidiennement depuis le pont que je franchissais pour aller à la fac. La ville de Cork apparait si belle dans son manteau de nuages bleutés et lumières d'or. La pause longue permet de capter chaque détail et de déployer les feux de la ville sur la surface de l'eau. Go visit Irland ahah!

[[Erasmus in Cork, Ireland 2017]]. Back from my 3-day trip to the west coast of Ireland, I faced a technical problem: my only 18-55mm zoom lens had broken during my famous risky climb in Connemara ! (see photo ' 'Alone In The Connemara Montains' March 2017) A tragedy for me ... But luckily my friend Théophile, who was staying in my apartment in Paris at the time, was able to mail me my fixed 35mm lens to help out. With this one, therefore, no zoom, and to compensate for this frustration I decided to explore the long-exposure at night, by placing the camera on a support. Here the first test: immortalize the view I had daily from the bridge that I crossed to go to university. The city of Cork appears so beautiful in its mantle of blue clouds and golden lights. The long exposure allows to capture every detail and deploy the city lights on the surface of the water. Go visit Ireland haha!

En route pour l'UC de Cork, le long des quais de la River Lee (fleuve de la ville), il y a avait toujours de belles scènes de mouettes et goélands jouant avec l'eau. Les jours de grand soleil les reflets faisaient scintiller les vagues sous les volatiles. Sur cette captation, l'animal semble un oiseau magique, une créature d'Apollon, trainant la lumière derrière lui. Incroyable!

On my way to college in Cork, along the River Lee's banks, there were always some great scenes with the seagulls playing with the water. On the bright days, the reflections were making the waves shine under the birds. On this caption, the animal seems to be some kind of a magic creature of Apollo, carrying the light behind him. Incredible!

Une autre prise lors de mes trajets vers la fac de Cork en 2017. Un témoignage de cette atmosphère brumeuse omniprésente en Irlande : ici la cathédrale Saint-Finbarr se dessine en arrière-plan comme un mirage, un édifice mystérieux sortant du brouillard, tel la destination finale de cette rue au premier plan. Ses flèches semblent toucher la partie la plus rayonnante du ciel ; une connexion qui m'a fait penser à la symbolique chrétienne autour des églises : ''la maison de Dieu sur terre''. Une image dont l'aspect saisissant et symbolique est renforcé par la présence de cette oiseau capturé en plein vol. L'urbain moderne et l'historique cohabitent donc, sublimés par la lumière unique de cette région.

A take during my walks to Cork University in 2017. A testimony to this omnipresent hazy atmosphere  in Ireland: here Saint-Finbarr Cathedral looms in the background like a mirage, a mysterious building emerging from the fog, such as the destination end of this street in the foreground. Its spires seem to touch the most radiant part of the sky; a connection that made me think of the Christian symbolism about churches: “the house of God on Earth”. A picture whose striking and symbolic aspect is reinforced by the presence of this bird caught in flight. The modern urban and the historical coexist, sublimated by the unique light of this region.

La photo parfaite pour marquer les premiers jours d'une des expériences les plus importantes de ma vie : mon erasmus en Irlande à l'University College de Cork, pour ma 3ème année de licence en sciences sociales en 2017. Ici une des entrées du vieux bâtiment historique néo-gothique avec ses jardins, inondée d'une lumière dorée qui rentre dans le hall même, un beau jour d'hiver. Comme une porte vers un autre monde : la suite de ma vie.

The perfect photograph to mark my first days of one of my most important life experiences : my Erasmus student exchange in Ireland (University College of Cork), for my third bachelor year of social sciences in 2017. Here one of the many entries to the old 19th century gothic building with its garden, flooded with a golden light that even penetrates the hall, during a beautiful winter day. Such as a gate to another world : my new life coming.
